Session description:
R&D and homologation procedures for the safety argumentation of autonomous vehicles require a common understanding of processes and specifications to transfer traffic scenarios into measurable, simulationable and assesseable metrics. The german government has started a large scale initiatice called “Verification and Validation of Autonomous Systems” This initiative integrates main players of the german industry to address these goals combining manufacturers, suppliers and research bodies as well as research institutes. A second aspect of this initiative is to collaborate worldwide with partners in the area of tools and methods for automated driving safety argumentations.
Following these approaches this sesson gives overviews on recommended scenario based procedures, specifications and tools in order to foster harmonized R&D processes as well as assessment methods based on the work of the project partners and its international network.One important step enabling large scale homologation and deployment of automated driving is a shift from real world tests into virtual testing procedures and environments. Harmonized simulation toolchains, a common understanding of scenario descriptions and its metrics as well as an assesseable safety argumentation including formal descriptions are essential to reach this goal. This session combines speakers from all around the world that are tackling this challenge by providing tools, methodologies, concepts, architectures, specifications and taxonomies to transfer real and virtual tests into assesseable metrics and to share proof of concepts for verification and validation of automated vehicle functionalities.
The german government has started a large scale initiatice called “Verification and Validation of Autonomous Systems”. Other countries have started similar initatives to develop tools and methodologies to support verification procedures. Keep informed and involved at this international expert session.
About the ITS World Congress
11. – 15. Oktober 2021:
The ITS Congress is the biggest event focused on smart mobility and the digitalisation of transport. Every year, ERTICO organises an ITS regional or World Congress in Europe.
